Animal Info - Information on Endangered Mammals

A mammal species index with illustrations, mammal links, organizations, and publications.  It is also searchable by countries of the world.

 

Caltech Seismological site

Caltech's site is full of information and images.  This is a good place to send children and young adults.  Click on the 'Research' link to further information on earthquakes.

 

Threatened and Endangered Animals and Plants

The U.S. Department of Fish and Wildlife provides this site, which contains all you need to know about endangered species in the United States.

 

Environmental Protection Agency

A large listing of science sites maintained by the National Technical Information Service.  Many links to sites dealing with agriculture, astronomy, biology, earth science, energy, environment, health, math, physics, chemistry, natural resources, and science education.

This is a geology master site.  Volcanoes, earthquakes, floods, dictionaries, geologic time sites, organizations, maps, minerals, and much more. Has a great list of links to other sites.

 

Intellicast

Current weather information with maps, radar satellite images, storm watches, and hurricanes during hurricane season.  It also has national and local forecast information.

     

Mineral Gallery

The Mineral Gallery is a constantly growing collection of mineral descriptions, images, and specimens.  It is searchable via class, names, or keyword. 

 

Ocean Link

On these pages, you will find information about many marine science topics, including marine biology, oceanography, marine mammals, seabirds, marine pollution, marine invertebrates, marine fish, and much more.  There is a section on marine animal records, such as the deepest, fastest, and smallest.

  

PLANTS National Database

The U.S. Department of Agriculture brings us this database of plants in the United States. The PLANTS Database provides a single source of standardized information about plants.  PLANTS provides standardized plant names, symbols, and other plant attribute information.

 

Rise and Set

A part of the Old Farmer's Almanac site.  Use to calculate the sun and moon rise and set times.  Can be done for any United States town or city.  Search by zip code or city name and date. Dates may range from 1970 to 2020.  Also has information on the rise and set times of other planets in our solar system.

 

Intute: Science, Engineering & Technology

Organized by scientific subject, many timelines display hundreds of events from prehistoric time to today.  The timeline for inventions, for example, has over 270 notable events on it.

 

Zoom Dinosaurs

Zoom Dinosaurs is a comprehensive on-line hypertext book about dinosaurs.  It is designed for students of all ages and levels of comprehension.  There is a "Dinosaur Dictionary" that provides detailed information on many paleontology terms.
